Egyptian Walking Onions - 1 Bunch
Allium × proliferum
Egyptian walking onions aka “tree onions” are delicious self replicating onions; plant them once and have sweet shallot-like onions for ever! These funions produce bulbs that bend down to the earth and self propagate as they traipse around your garden. Their flavor is mild and sweet like a shallot, so is the shape and size of the bulb. You can companion plant these aromatic bulbs near the base of adjacent plants to deter animal visitors (like squirrels, rodents and armadillos) from digging up roots.
Planting Instructions:
Each bunch will have a mix of small and large bulbs that can be directly planted in the soil. Separate individual bulbs and plant them about an inch beneath the soil, then apply a mulch over planting site. Spacing can be 5 to 10 inches apart. Once the onions gain momentum and start propagating it would be a good idea to thin out the bulbs and spread them to other parts of the garden or share them with friends!
