American Persimmon - 4+ Plant Bundle
Diospyros virginiana
American Persimmons are my all time favorite fruit! Their fruit is absolutely delicious when ripe; tasting of tangerine caramels with floral honeysuckle notes! Let them table ripen until they turn slightly purple and are very soft for a delicious treat that can be eaten fresh, baked into pastries or dried out to be used like “raisins” in foods like oatmeal or cookies. Yum!
*You’ll need at least three of these beautiful trees near each other to get good pollination. Each pot contains 4 to 6 seedlings that are 1’ to 2’+ feet tall. Keep them potted until the autumn (to allow for extra root growth), then plant them when the weather is cool or during the winter.
Where to plant:
Trees are immensely productive and can rain down hundreds of pounds of fruit for you and local wildlife. They are extremely versatile in their growing requirements and can be very productive in full sun or in part shade along a forest edge.
Mature trees are 60 feet tall but normally don’t reach more than 20 feet tall.
